7. April 2008: 25 years since SDI

On 23. March it will lapse 25 years since the famous speech by American president Ronald Reagan, in which he announced the programme of Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). The CI organises by this occasion a seminar under patronage of the Ministress of Defence of the Czech Republic Vlasta Parkanová. Roman Joch (director of CI) presented his report named "Nuclear strategy of the cold war". Martin Koller (redactor of magazine "Naše vojsko") followed with speech that was focused on the topic of the technical aspects of SDI. Pavel Bratinka (chairman of executive council of CI) pointed out the significant role of the SDI in uprooting the communist empire. Jiří Schneider (director of PSSI) finally presented his theme "Opponents of SDI at that time and opponents of NMD today" in which he evaluated arguments of the opponents of the SDI and contemporary opponents of the NMD. The seminar was ended by inviting for a coctail in the spaces of the Ministry of Defence.
